High Standards NZ

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 23 July 2026

The short version

  • High Standards NZ is a revision website for NCEA students. It's currently free to use.
  • Use the content for your own study. Don't copy it to republish or sell.
  • Keep your account details to yourself and be honest with us.
  • It's a study aid, not official NZQA material — always check NZQA for anything official.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you.

The rest of this page says the same things more fully.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and High Standards NZ (“we”, “us”) covering your use of highstandards.co.nz. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Most of our users are secondary school students, and we've written these terms to be fair and readable for them. If you're under 18, we recommend a parent or guardian reads these terms too.

2. Using the site

You may use the site and its content for your own personal, non-commercial study — that's what it's for. Teachers may also refer students to the site.

You agree not to:

  • copy, republish, sell, or distribute our content, on paper or online, without our written permission;
  • use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download the site;
  • try to break, overload, or get around the site's security or access controls;
  • use the site in any way that breaks New Zealand law.

If you'd like to use our content in another way — for example in a classroom resource — email us at hellohighstandards@gmail.comand ask. We're usually happy to help.

3. Accounts

You don't need an account to read the site. If you create one, you agree to give us a real email address, keep your password private, and not share your account with others. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us promptly at hellohighstandards@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

You can stop using the site at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms — where practical, we'll warn you first.

4. Teacher reviewers

Some teachers have reviewer accounts that let them read unpublished content, approve pages, and leave feedback. Reviewer access is personal, may be limited to particular subjects, and can be changed or withdrawn by us at any time. By submitting review feedback you allow us to use it to correct and improve the site's content.

5. Our content

The content on this site — notes, worked examples, quizzes, diagrams, and the site itself — is created by us and belongs to us. It's protected by copyright. These terms give you permission to use it for personal study; they don't transfer ownership of anything to you.

High Standards NZ is an independent study resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Our content is not official NZQA material, and we don't reproduce NZQA exam papers or marking schedules — for those, go to nzqa.govt.nz.

6. A study aid, not a guarantee

We work hard to keep our content accurate and aligned with the current NCEA achievement standards, including having teachers review it. But courses change, assessments vary, and no revision resource can promise you a result. Always check official NZQA and school guidance for what your assessment requires, and treat our content as a study aid alongside your school teaching, not a replacement for it.

If you spot a mistake, please tell us at hellohighstandards@gmail.com — we take corrections seriously and fix confirmed errors promptly.

7. Availability and changes

The site is currently free to use. We may add, change, or remove content and features, and occasionally the site may be unavailable (for example during maintenance). We'll always try to keep disruption small, but we can't promise the site will be available at any particular time — please don't leave your only copy of anything important with us the night before an exam.

If we ever introduce paid features, we'll update these terms first and make the change clear on the site before anything costs money.

8. Liability

Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights that New Zealand law gives you and that cannot be excluded, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows for a free service: we provide the site “as is”, and we aren't liable for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, by the site being unavailable, or by use of the site contrary to these terms.

9. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is covered by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for significant changes we'll also say so on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. General

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any dispute will be handled in New Zealand courts. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
