Physics in Context

Physics in Context (AS91169) is a 4-credit internal with a twist: there's no fixed topic list to revise, because your teacher chooses the context — something like cars, sport, medical technology, or musical instruments. What's assessed is whether you can find the real physics concepts hiding inside that context and explain them properly, using ideas from other parts of the course (motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity — whatever genuinely applies).

Because the specific context differs between schools, this page can't hand you fixed notes to memorise. Instead it teaches the structure every good answer follows, however the context changes:

• Identify which physics concepts are genuinely relevant — not every concept you know, only the ones that actually explain the context.
• Explain each concept accurately, in your own words, using correct terminology and (where relevant) a formula.
• Link concepts together and to the context, showing how the physics explains a real feature, behaviour, or design choice.
• Support with numbers where you can — a calculation grounded in the context is stronger evidence than description alone.
