Investigate biological material at the microscopic level
AS91160internal
What this standard covers
- Preparing biological material for viewing under a light microscope — tears, sections, impressions, cavity slides and stains
- Viewing two different plant tissues and one unicellular organism, and working out the magnification
- Recording what you see in biological drawings that follow the accepted conventions
- Identifying specialised features: cell shape, the arrangement of cells, and which organelles are present and how many
- Relating each feature to the function of the cell or tissue, and giving the reason it does that job well
